Online Writing Courses and Seminars Starting in June

One thing that can be said about the lockdown, is that it has encouraged many retreats, writing conferences, workshops, classes and camps to go online.

Here are two that you can access coming up.

Muse 2020 Seminar Series

Credit where credit is certainly due, my client Katrina Carruth let me know about The Muse & The Marketplace’s 2020 seminar.

Initially scheduled for May, it was cancelled completely due to the Corona Virus. However, after requests and plenty of willingness from speakers, The Muse has decided to set up some of the seminars to be viewed from the comfort of your own home.

Each seminar is $22, which means you can pick and choose which suit you to watch.

You can read all about it on the Muse & the Marketplace’s website, here.

However, for a quick look, here is the line-up:

June 2 - "What Booksellers Want Writers to Know," with Leah DeCesare & Allison Pottern Hoch
June 9 - "Scene CPR," with Lisa Borders
June 24 - "Writing the Synopsis: Essentials, Tips, and Tricks For Crafting a Professional Synopsis," with Kaitlyn Johnson
July 7 - "Please Sir, I Want Some More: How to Construct a Story with Multiple Timelines or Protagonists," with Michelle Hoover
July 15 - "Perfecting Page One," with Hank Phillippi Ryan
July 22 - "From Personal History to Social History: How to Get Beyond the 'Me' in Memoir," with Alysia Abbott
August 25 - "The Things People Don't Say: Writing What Is Taboo," with Sejal Shah & Pooja Makhijani

This seminar series starts at the beginning of June and, so far, does not have an end. The website promises that there are more to come.

Book Writing for Teens
(& Maybe You Too!)

This is for those teenagers in your life, or even, perhaps, you!

Derek Murphy has created a completely FREE 12-week summer camp for teenagers with the focus of book-writing.

This course starts June 1st and runs through August 31st, and even has a contest to keep teens interested with a $500 prize.

However, this isn’t just for the teens in your life. The suggested age range is 9-19, and “even mature authors will find this free course useful at writing better fiction”

You can read more about the course here or enroll for the course here.

If you want to hear about these right in your inbox, be sure to subscribe to my mailing list and get these updates as soon as I learn about them, right in your inbox.
